Many seeds can be direct planted into the garden. Even procrastinators can grow wonderful flowers and veggies from seed THIS YEAR - try greens and lettuce, peas and beans, squash, corn and pumpkins, and many flowers and herbs. Here in northern Illinois, sow them outside around June 1st in the garden or in a pot.
